Guy Allison
Keyboards/Vocals
Guy Allison was born in 1959 in Los Angeles, California, and began playing piano before entering kindergarten. “When I was at school, all I could think of was getting home and talking my Dad into playing my brother and sister’s Beatle records… it didn’t occur to me until high school that there was a possible connection between the piano lessons and rock & roll.”
With training that started in classical music and progressed through jazz studies he finally ended up in the best classroom possible, a steady gig with a northern California bar band. Upon moving back to Southern California he became a founding member of the A&M recording act “Lodgic”, a band discovered and produced by Toto members David Paich and Steve Porcaro. There were of course offshoots of this band in various member configurations. Polygram’s “World Trade” and then Interscope’s “Unruly Child” were to follow. While all these musical endeavors were taking place he found the time to be a four year touring member with the Moody Blues, a seven year touring/recording member of Air Supply, and a seven year touring/recording member with Eikichi Yazawa. It was in this band that Guy met and worked with John McFee, Keith Knudsen, Willie Weeks, and Danny Hull. “I always dreamed of working with John and Keith in the Doobies, so when I was asked I didn’t believe it at first… I had just seen the band in Tahoe, Nevada and thought, F**k… this band is cool!!! Now how could I pass that up?”
Guy’s recording/writing credits include Don Henley, Boz Scaggs, Air Supply, Peter Lewis (Moby Grape) and The Doobie Brothers.
