I consider “Black Water” to be one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard because the music and lyrics complement so, so well, inducing such an intense New Orleans and Louisiana mood. I had just learned to play the song on the guitar when I found out the band will perform in my city Feb 26. I will be at that performance, of course, but sure wish I could sit down with Pat Simmons over a beer and talk about how he writes music. He’s one of my favorite composers.

Here is “my” list of cities that would make a good home for an “authentic” monument to rock that is based on reality not ego: (Cleveland did not crack “my” top 500) San Francisco,New York, L.A.Detroit,Liverpool,New Orleans,St Louis,Memphis, and more. Doobie Forward.
