The Doobie Brothers have pretty much out-played just about everybody by now, they have also out-lasted most and done so at a very high level of professionalism, musicianship and ethics. I think we all (Doobie Fans ) know what the issue with the rrhof is.( I won’t capitalize their name ) Doobie on.

I SO agree with what Pat says about the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Who needs ‘em and why would anyone consider changing who they are or what they do so successfully for what now appears to be a ‘sketchy’ acknowledgement? DB fans know who the DB are and will always “Listen To The Music”!!

Agree with Pat’s comments very much and in fact have had the chance to thank him for the Doobies music being a big part of the sound track to my life. As far as the past is concerned they truly were one of the great reasons to have a big-time sound system in your car (in your ’70′s muscle car or pickup) or in the house you were renting with 3 other guys, because the music gave you what you wanted. I can still remember my kenwood amp and JBL speakers cranking out The Captain and Me, Vices and Toulouse Street. The vocals, guitars and underlying drums/bass were exactly why my friends and I – all blue collar guys at the time – had blown so many of our hard earned $$ on sound systems. Also, a lot of VietNam vets came home around that time with great audio gear they’d picked up in Japan. They needed a great rock sound to play and the Doobies put it out there better than anyone. Their music was a ‘Welcome Home.’ Get on your Harley with your girl, head down the road, mellow out and enjoy being back in America.

But it’s not just about the past. The way they’ve conducted themselves, continued to make good new stuff, lived their lives positively and treated band members and their fans as part of a brotherhood is truly exemplary and all make for good reasons to continue to follow how they’re doing. If you see them now they are fit and play with great passion and energy – unlike many other ‘nostalgia’ acts that embarrass themselves and need to hang it up. While not openly spiritual – wise not to get hung up on specifics – Tom, Pat, John and the rest of the band project an appreciation and optimism about life – which ultimately has a spritual source. Shows they’ve figured a few things out. This keeps the music and the message fresh and for fans it’s great to be around that and keeps you coming back. I’ll be seeing them at the BR Cohn event next month and can’t wait. Thanks guys!!!
