I enjoyed the article about the Doobie Brothers before the event at Gurnvile coming up.
For me – they go so far back and have local roots in the Bay area.
I was not from the Santa Rosa area but I remember migrating up after college in LA in the early 70′s. We were all hippies then and barely getting by, often hungry, but we had each other and the “music”.
I remember we all rented a “ranch” on a hill overlooking Geyserville back “in the day” and had many friends in the Sonoma County area. We would all go to Healdsburg to do laundry and shop for what little food we could afford. The parties were very…….fun!
I can remember staying at a house we rented on HWY 128 near Geyserville for $80 a month. My roommate had The Captain and Me album and I would play my guitar along to the music. There was “something about” the Doobie Brothers Music then, that was the glue for all of us. We sang about love and life – fleeting as it is. For us then, every day was a blessed experience of love for each other and the day. The Doobies brought that feeling home. We would drive along or sit in the house listening to the music – and it soothed our hearts.
To this day – they still leave their crowds with a peaceful easy feeling of caring and sharing, traits all too rare in today’s world. It would be fun to reminiss sometime of the great days of the 70′s when we all had nothing – but were never richer in spirit.

Going to see The Doobie Brothers with my 3 sisters tonight at Humphries on the Bay-can hardly wait!
I was here for a conference and I invited 2 of my sisters to join me-we are all from Ontario,Canada. My oldest sister came down fron B.C.
We all have different tastes in music, but we all loved and grew up with the Doobie Brothers…the music was rich and left us feeling great.
This is my first time to California (San Diego) and I’m so glad we stayed for another few days!

Saw this article while I was in Petaluma for my daughter’s wedding. Glad to see the North Bay is giving some press to the Doob’s appearance at the Russian River Blues Festival. Wish I could be there.
