Message from Michael Hossack

Michael HossackDoobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack has issued the following message to his fans:

Hi everyone, I thought I’d write a letter to all you fans out there, who have been so supportive during my absence from the tour. Thank you for all your kind messages. It certainly helps to keep my spirits up during my time away. I have had some problems relating to injuries I received in an auto accident a couple of years ago. I needed to take some time off to address these issues, and get my health back on track. Things are improving, but it may be several months before I’m able to get back to touring. In the mean time I’ll be following my doctor’s orders, and spending time with my family and friends. At least that will be some compensation while I’m away. It’s been hard not touring with the band but I have incredible support from my family, the Doobie Brothers, and all my friends out there. I can’t thank you enough for everything. All my best wishes to you all, and thanks for thinking of me. I’m receiving your emails, and cards sent to our office, and appreciate your thoughtfulness. Hope to be seeing you soon.

Love, Mike

Protect your health brother Mike and come back with the same, strong consistent beat of the double drums, which makes the Doobs click! Carpe diem!

Hey Big Mike – missed seeing you behind the drums on Saturday, July 10th at Jones Beach. First Skylark and now you. The music was great but you were missed. But, your health is more important so sending lots of love from Brooklyn, NY. Know you are loved that’s the main thing. All the best Angela “RoadAngel” xoxox

Hey Mike,

Definitely missed in Denver. I did not know you were not playing. Met you twice and have seen the band a dozen times. You are my childhood hero. I have been drumming since I was 5, learned by using mostly Doobie music. I now have two drum kits and am teaching my 10 year old son side-by-side….it’s a blast! No doubt he is learning to play double drums to the best rock around.

Take good care!!

Best,

Dave

Mike … First: It’s always hard to comprehend how and why past injuries can come back to haunt us and impact our day to day activities; as yours have. My family and I have gone through similar issues. I can emphasize with what you and your family are currently going through. I’m sure that going back on tour was an objective throughout your past recovery, and may well be this time, but do take good care of Mike Hassock … you mean a lot to a lot of caring people. However, having watched several of your incredible tour performances since the accident, I truly expect that this current “bump in the road” will be short lived and you’ll be joining your “Brothers” on tour in the near future. In the meantime, my best to you and your family as you nurture your health back to where you want it. (Been there, done that … so I know it can be done … and with your strong will you’ll do it.)

Second: Definitely missed your smiling face at the Atlanta show last night. Don’t know who was sitting in with Ed (Toth); he did a respectable job; but, in my humble opinion, you need not concern yourself about job security … you’re just too good … that drum throne will be there when you’re ready!

God bless! Our prayers are with you and your family.

Mike this must be a real bind for you with the album ready to go and Skylark’s health issues too. I know you are a Doobie of fine standing and I pray for your swift recovery. I’ll also look forward to hearing what you and Ed can do together on those skins when World Gone Crazy comes out.

Hi Mike, I went to see Doobies in Milan, October 14, I guess it was the first show the band ever had in Italy and so it was my very first Doobie concert after 20 years of waiting. What a delusion not to see you there, I didn’t know about your problems. Tony Pia was not bad at all, but you are the history of the band, that’s your place, get back soon and better than before, I hope the band will return to Italy again with you on the kit. ciao
