For years I have written letters to local NY radio stations, WCBS & WQXR etc. The Doobie Brothers are one of the best live bands I’ve heard. The band sounds better than ever and the Tommy Johnston sound is the jammin best music around. Pat’s guitar playing is up there with the best of them. I never tire of hearing them even after 35 plus years. You guys have been #1 in my Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but let’s make it official now. Lots of Love, Angela “RoadAngel” Moraglia

I have watched groups of less caliber and i don’t mean that in a negative but as far as i am concerned there is not another band out there that would be more deserving of this recognition.
This group has gone through many changes over the years and has also provided us with songs hits that still live on and will for many many years to come.
Their sound is like no other and distinctively there own these guys have remained true to their roots in providing us all with first class music.
Now some forty years later i have trouble thinking that they are yet to be recognized by the hall of fame for there music and musical talents.
I have been a huge fan of the Doobies for over 40 years and i can honestly say that i listen to their music on a dailey basis and am eargerly waiting the new release.
Guys every one of you should be very proud to know that your music has a loyal following and i am sure you will get the recognitoin you all deserve.
Save a ticket for me when you are inducted i would personally like to shake your hands and thank you.

I have been thoroughly disappointed with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the exclusions they have made over the years, and the inclusions they have made that really don’t have much to do with Rock and Roll. Donna Summer and Run DMC??? The Dave Clark Five were inducted last year and I bet most of us can’t even name a song they did.
The Doobie Brothers have deserved this recognition for years as have Chicago, Neil Diamond and many others, but I have to think that the Doobie Brothers deserve the recognition sooner because their music represented the 1970′s, and then they regrouped and had yet another top 10 hit with “The Doctor” in the early 1990′s. Talk about staying power.
Their first three albums helped me maintain my sanity during my six year enlistment as a Firefighter in the Air Force. I saw things that no person should ever have to see and, when I was off duty, the Doobie Brothers took my mind away from the reality of my world and made it a better place.
I know that’s very personal, but it makes them more than worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in my eyes…and the sooner the better.

I am so glad to see someone initiating this, it’s been a long time comin’!!! (Not Long Train Runnin’ but close, lol!) I want to just briefly piggy-back Mark Hutchings’ comments above since my attachment, loyalty and appreciation for the band is the same… It’s very personal for me. The Doobie Brothers’ music has kept me somewhat sane but alive during some of my darkest hours over the years. “I Cheat the Hangman” was very real for me, especially in the early years of my struggle with drug addiction and alcoholism. Their lyrics have literally saved my ass more than once and I’m forever grateful.I have been a huge fan since 1974 and I’ve seen them in concert 15 or 16 times. I can tell you that I never left one of those shows disappointed, ever! So if you’ve never seen them perform live, you need to change that as soon as you can. My older brother introduced me to the Doobie Brothers at age 11 and today at age 47, i can honestly say it’s been an amazing journey and they’ve kept me company the entire way, Thanks Guys. I use to say that in my next life, I was going to be Tom Johnstons wife! Hey, I was told to dream big! They have without a doubt, withstood the test of time because musically they are just as good today as they were 30 years ago and hopefully they’ll continue to kick ass and take names for another 30… Long Live Rock n Roll!

OK. Phi Psi, Valpo 72 – 76. None better. When the kegs emptied and the girls chose, you brought major benefits . You lubed them and we grooved them. Seriously the best music of the 70′s.

It unbelievable to me that thw Doobie Brothers aren’t in the Hall of Fame. They have been my favorite band since 1971. I never miss their concerts when they are within 3 states of Connecticut. They will surely get into the hall of fame (and should be already). Not only are they the best live band around, but they are very nice guys with nice families.

I first heard the Doobie’s back in the early 70′s when they were playing in and around Los Gatos. A classic rock-n-roll band that always kept the crowd screaming for more. If memory serves, I think they even played a “mixer” at Mitty sometime in those years. My daughters first concert was at Konocti where we had 3rd row seats to see them, needless to say it was a great show outdoors under the stars, they’ll never forget it. Keep rockin’ boys . . . we’ll always be there to support you!!

everyone should add the post to their facebook page to get votes to one of the best rock bands of all time! Way overdue for the hall of fame. I’ve seen the Doobs 7 times since the 70′s. Always a great show. I took my daughter last year who has waited a long time for a chance to see their great show. We had a GREAT time!

oh I just agree with all of you, of course. I would say that their strongest argument for being inducted is the diversity of the music they have produced over the years and each style of music has been of such high quality: From Snake Man, Song to see you thru, Dependin on You, to Chinatown to How do these fools survive? and on and on. No other band has that kind of resume. Even the other greats could not cover that broad of a spectrum. I think that the general public has the image of the band that does not appreciate what they did. My favorite trick to the unitiated is to play something in the car like Chinatown and have them ask, Who is that?” When I respond, they usually say something like, No Way! My friends cannot hear a doobies song without thinking of me and while they tease me about it, I like it that way. My wife likes to joke that seeing the Doobs when within 150 mile radius of Denver was in our marriage contact. I respond … and the issue is??? Finally, I think Ted Templeman should be added to the induction.

The Doobies are the epitome of rock n roll – how can they NOT be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And why aren’t they already in the Hall of Fame, I mean they ARE rock and roll. What an enormous oversight to have missed inducting the Doobies. I too have been a fan since the ’70′s and have never tired of their music. And in concert, there is none better! I honestly can’t count how many times I’ve been to Doobie concerts and have NEVER been disappointed – they always just cook! They are a fantastically talented band and the epitome of rock and roll ! ! ! A real treat recently was watching them jam at the tribute to Norton. That was just icing on the cake. They are fantastic musicians and good hearted humanitarians. I’m proud to be a dyed-in-the-wool Doobies fan. Paula

Let’s start out with the fact that the Rock & Roll Hall Of fame has not included the Doobie Brother’s, but have added..RAP groups.and should have voted in the Doobie Brother’s..years ago. What’s wrong with this..picture? This tells me that the VOTERS and the one’s who control the voting are NOT about the Music, it’s about..them, they think that they are doing US a favor..and that they think they are some kind of ” artists” themselves..they don’t have a clue about music let alone the History of Rock & Roll. They think they have the corner on the “ART of Music”.. I am not against different kind’s Music, but this venue should be ONLY for the Induction of DESERVED ROCK GROUPS..as RAP music needs to have it’s own venue. The Rap groups have nothing to do with the history or the music of Rock & Roll. The people who control the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, are under the assumption and deceived under the lie that it’s about “ART”, the fans of Rock Music have news for them, it’s NOT ..about “ART”.. this is about ROCK AND ROLL.. and the R.R .H.O.F should be ashamed that they have not included one of the founding Classic Rock groups the Doobie Brothers. The ____ & ____ Hall of Fame, will never be..ROCK & ROLL ..until the Doobie brothers ..are voted in..and by the way WHERE is Rap today? It is mostly DEAD, and for 40 YEARS the Doobie Brothers are STILL packing venues across the nation, and for 40 years proving that they are..truly AMERICA’S MOST LOVED BAND…The R.R.H.O.F needs to wake up..and ‘LISTEN TO THE MUSIC” AND put some Doobie Brothers in their pipe and smoke it…thank God for the patience of this great group, knowing they have something MORE important than trophy’s or fame, they understand that when they get on stage..and we see them smile, they have the hearts of America, their beloved fans…and forever!! This group was certainly called by God..we thank you and we love you guys!! Amen. See you In Colorado June 23 2010.

The Doobie Brothers represent all the criteria that a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should consider…
quality and originality of the music, delivery and performance, fan base support, industry recognition, peer support and longevity. In addition their charirable nature and good stewards of the planet are another benchmark and representation of their nature and purpose. The Doobie Brothers have created entertaining, inspiring and fun music and memories all over the Country and the world. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be proud to include such a talented and great group of musicians. My life has been great and I am lucky; the Doobie Brothers have been a fun part of it for me, my family and friends. Has it really been 40 years? America loves the THE DOOBIE BROTHERS!

In the changing seasons of ones life, a person comes to realize what remains constant and true; in families, friendships, jobs, health and interests. Through all the seasonal interests in my life, music has been a constant companion. As my musical interests become more defined yet multifaceted, the star that continues to shine the brightest is the one on which the Doobie Brothers reside. Forever a fan, forever graced by their music, forever touched by who the are as human beings, it is a great privilage and honor to support the nomination of this most remarkable group of gifted musicians and humanitarians. May they forever bring us” the music to listen” to. Love you guys, Cath

And now spanning generations, one of the longest lived. Still cranking out great music, and touring.

The Doobies NOT in the hall of fame? REALLY??? It’s political, what I want to know is that the Bros. did to piss off Rolling Stone Magazine because within those halls is where the problem lies…..but WTF do I know? Obviously the DESERVE to be there and will be.

It’s really way past due for our brothers of the road to be inducted into the hall of fame. If it isn’t done soon the Hall itself will be discredited and a laughing stock, for the failure to induct the Doobie Brothers into the Hall of Fame is only one outstanding omission on the part of the Hall. This is not about who is IN the hall, it’s about who is NOT, and righting a wrong. With all due respect to the members of the Rock’n'Roll Hall of Fame, the Doobie Brothers are your brothers and you members should all be involved in choosing your peers in the Hall. Don’t let the Rock’n'Roll hall of fame become a joke. The Doobie Brothers have earned their place among the greatest rock’n'roll bands of all time,
and that is that. Thanks!

I was backstage 4 times between 76 and 96. True gentlemen who know how to treat a lady. No gossip fodder here! Just genuinely funny, entertaining, respectful and intelligent guys. They’re charity work is well known to fans and and is genuine and appreciated. The music has run the gamet of popularity and stands the test of time. I’m shocked to find they were not among the first inductees.

There have been many incredible bands along the way. The 60′s and 70′s had them all. But there is one group who seemed to have put all of the great characteristics and positive energy of rock music into one pretty awesome package. This would be the Doobie Brothers. For those who know the scope and breadth of their music . . . the song writing . . . the musicianship, the melodies, the guitar solos, the vocals and harmonies, the rocking songs, the ballads, the mix of rock, jazz, blues, country, soul etc. No group before or after them has EVER created such an all around pleasing sound using so many types of music – so perfectly wrapped together in such a warm package. For those of you who know their music you know that there is a positive and spiritual essense to their music that puts chills up and down your spine. No matter how hard they are rockin (Neals Fandango) or no matter how much musically they are jamming (Steamer Lane Breakdown) or how hauntingly beautiful the song (I Cheat The Hangman) etc. you know that your are listening to a very special brand of music. Let’s face it. What matters most is that their music will live in your soul and those who listen to them forever. The best things in life don’t always get noticed or appreciated. The Doobie Brothers and their fans know.

I live just a few hours from Cleveland, I will NEVER visit the hall of fame even if they now induct one of the c learly greatest rock bands of the 70′s. I am no Doobies nut but if the powers that be in the hof are so ignorant of the doobies unique sound and even have to THINK whether they should be there especially in light of some of the lightweights they have inducted. I better quit now, getting po’d just thinking about it.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame commitee should be decomissioned for not including one of our most truely loved American rock bands of all time. The Doob’s, writing, instrumentation, vocal’s and arrangements are some of the greatest music ever produced.
