I was inspired to learn the harmonica particularly after hearing Norton’s incredible harp solo on Bonnie Raitt’s version of “Runaway”. I have seen Norton numerous times and even have a shirt signed by him that says, “Thanks so much” Norton Buffalo from when I was visiting Sun Valley, Idaho.
I am forever grateful of his gift to the music world and will continue to keep his memory alive by listening to his songs and playing the harp.

Fantastic Tribute Concert … I brought my middle daughter and we enjoyed the show so much ! I would not have wanted to be Steve Miller that Friday night to follow the Doobies !!! Seriously Steve Miller was awesome too !!!! I grew up with Norton — he will sincerely be missed. Thanks so much for the tribute show in his honor ….

i met Norton several times, each at benefits for Veterans (I’m a disabled Veteran) and he was funny, kind, warm and wonderful to talk with. He did a benefit at the Concord, CA Veteran’s Center i 2005, just after he participated in the Katrina DVD produced by the Cohn Winery. He sat at my table for several minutes and just gushed about how proud he was of Veterans from all our recent conflicts.
There’s a special place for great guys like him, and I can only hope I get a seat at one of his concerts “upstairs”. Thanks Norton, you’re one hulluva human being, and I’ll miss you.

Thanks for coming to Oakland for Norton’s Tribute! It was truly a warm gesture to Norton, who always had a way of putting a smile on my face. He had the mojo, and if you knew him, his sense of humor war genius.

The music world is missing one of their best performers. Norton Buffalo you will be missed but your fellow musicians will keep your spirit alive. You don’t know from minute to minute what can happen. So everyone enjoy life and do what makes you happiest. In the case of the Doobie Brothers, I hope its to continue to make and perform great music for many years to come. Love you guys! RoadAngel

I am the composer Herbert Stothart’s (Oscar winning composer of “The Wizard of Oz”) daughter.)My father was Norton’s great uncle. All of the musical genes in my family went directly to Norton, the greatest harmonica player in the world, AND, a great man.
