Happy Holidays from The Doobie Brothers
Hi Everyone,
We just wanted to take a moment to send out our best wishes for a very Happy Holiday Season, to all our Friends and Family. Here’s hoping you and your loved ones are all warm, healthy and happy during this season of giving. It has been a crazy, challenging year for all of us, but it looks like 2009 will be a new year full of hope and promise.
We are so thankful for the gift of soon having Mike Hossack back on the bandstand and on the bus with us. His unanticipated absence during the summer, fall, and now winter months, has been hard for the band, and Mike as well. We will be glad to be past this chapter in our lives, and are looking forward to seeing many of you next year. Mike and the band want to thank all of you for your love and support during his convalescence.
We are almost finished with a new Doobie Brothers album. The first one in almost a decade! Can you believe it? So far we have cut 13 songs, and possibly there are still more to come. We are once again working with our longtime friend and collaborator, Ted Templeman, in the producer’s chair. Ross Hogarth, Phil Kaffel, and Dave Russell have been doing the engineering duties. We are feeling really good about the direction, and performance of the songs. It’s been a lot of work, but so much fun, and as always the creative process is just amazing. To hear ideas that have been floating around in your head for so long finally brought to life in the studio, with the help of your friends, is a feeling that’s hard to describe. Sort of like Christmas and graduation day… hmm… we don’t know… Anyway it’s gonna be great to have some new songs to play next summer. There’s no title yet, we’ll let you know.
Like we said, mainly we want to tell you all how much we appreciate your continued support, and to wish you the best of everything as we move forward into the new year. We hold our families and friends close to our hearts, we try to reach out to those less fortunate, and we give thanks for all the blessings that have come our way. Those are the things we value in our own lives, and we hope you won’t mind if we pass this on. As we move through life, we have come to realize the small moments of happiness we experience in our lives through simple acts of love and sharing, are the best life has to offer. A child’s eyes on Christmas Day, a kiss under the mistletoe, angels in the snow… The memories of this wonderful time of year and those we love. Bless you all and Happy Holidays.
Love,
Pat Simmons

I loved seeing you guys on national TV last week at the Orange Bowl Halftime show! You guys prove everyday how great you all are playing for a live audience. I wished they had shown more of the performance on TV. I also can’t wait to hear the new CD material when it gets released. I am very glad to hear that Big Mike is doing well and will be rejoiing the band sometime soon! Keep up the awesome job performing live and please come to the Charlotte, NC area or somewhere close by this year. Happy New Year and Rock on guys…you all are awesome!

A Happy, Healthy & Rockin New Year to the Band. You guys are awesome. Looking forward to a new CD. I never tire of your music and never will. If I could only pick one song as my favorite all time it would be “Long Train Runnin”. Love your sound and always will. Looking forward to seeing you this year whenever you are close enough for me to drive to – Love you all! RoadAngel

So, a new album from you guys produced by the great Ted Templeman. I tell you what, if anybody knows the Doobie Brother sound, it is him. I’m really excited to hear your first new album with him in long time.

A new CD . Can’t wait. Ted Templeman aty the helm . Hoping that it will get back to those good old days of the first 4 albums . You can use the Captain and Me as the template . It is one of “THE” classic albums of all time . Still have a pristine vinyl version that sounds great. Vinyl still rules , cd is still a far second to true analog sound.

Hello friends,
I enjoy seeing this web site being a long time fan for many years after one of my first concert experiences as a younger rocker sometime around 1974-76 in Pullman Washington State. I can still remember vividly the excellent show and premium sound quality back then I appreciate the chance to say hello and the best to you all.

Love you guys! Went to your concerts this year in Las Vegas and Indio, California. Sorry to see that you’re not playing at the Los Angles county fair this year with Grand Funk Railroad. You bring such pleasure to us “baby boomers” playing all your great classics. Please make sure you make it down to southern California at least once or twice a year.
From another one of your devoted fans in San Bernardino.

It is a sad day in the Valley of the Moon, we have seen another brother move on to the other side. I met Norton in the mid 80′s through a friend and will never forget the night that we met at the Lonesome Armidillo in Roseville, Ca. Norton had played with a friend at a local pub in the Salem area, and took the time to greet us at the show. I recently went with my wife to the BR Cohn benifit concert, our first, surely not our last. My friends in glen Ellen remember Norton and have a friend that now lives in the house where Norton lived back in the day. We will be at the concert in Jan and will see him on the other side. Norton. say what’s up to our boy’s for us, look forward to seeing you again.
