Hey…I love the Doobie Brothers. & I am excited they are coming again to Iowa. Tama & Council Bluffs. I was a little disappointed at first cause they didn’t have those places on the initial itinerary. Each concert I have been to gets better. & I have met them. That was my dream concert when I did. Clinton, Iowa.

I saw the Doobies several times back in the seventies when I was a teenager. You have always been one of my favorite groups! It was such a thrill to see you recently in Houston at the Verizon Wireless Theater. WOW! I couldn’t believe that it had been thirty years since I had seen you “live” in concert! The only thing that detracted from the concert was that Tom Johnston kept screaming defiantly at the crowd to cheer louder for the band. It wasn’t bad at first, but then he kept on doing it during every song until it got annoying! The look on his face was scary! I’m going to see the Doobie Brothers again (with Chicago) in June, and I hope that he doesn’t do the same thing…….Anyway, I always listen to “What Were Once Vices” and “Stampede” (also “Takin’ It To The Streets) and they are some of my favorite albums of all time!!! Go Doobies!

when will the Doobie Bros come back to Melbourne Australia. I am such a fan and saw the band in 1979 and 2006. I just can’t get enough of this rich rock music. I loved the two drum kits on stage in the 2006 concert at the Palais in Melbourne.What a rick sound. Thank you for bringing such wonderful music into my life.

I’ve been thinking back to the time I first heard/met the band in NOLA in 1971. I fixed the stage power at Audabon Park (which the park manager had turned off) then went to their loft for rehearsals. I volunteered to post handbills, carry equipment and appreciated the groups’ talent, comeraderie and professionalism greatly. My connection was through a nice lady named Stephanie who rode her own motorbike to NOLA from WA state. I think she was Pat Simmons lady then; not sure. Actually not sure about much so long ago; but if I can add anything to the DVD retrospective project I can testify that it was not only “wild and crazy.” These guys were “talented and disciplined” – and that is why they made history! I spent weeks promoting that large club gig (somewhere near where Jaks Brew) that the record company was coming to see, Being only 17 years old, I could not come into the club to listen though. I hun outside with a hundred other people who could not get inside it was so packed. I left NOLA a couple days after the new record company turned their thumbs up for the band – I went seeking to learn about the Beattles Way with Words Multi-Media Project. I was so delighted to hear them in the mainstream the following year. I’m looking for the NOLA underground newspaper from that same time that had a front-page picture of me in Jackson Square perched atop the statue of Andrew Jackson’s horse with him. Fond memories!

Saw the Doobies at the Endymion Extravaganza (Mardi Gras) in the Superdome during the early hours of Sunday morning, Feb. 3 (about 2-2:45 a.m.) They were absolutely brilliant and having been a fan since my teens in the late ’70s, these guys “still got it!” Of course, Pat Simmons’ “Black Water” was extra special since it’s his homage to New Orleans, but all the songs were equally enjoyable. Love the guy on keyboards, too!
Tom, you looked great, by the way! Keep on rockin’, guys, and thanks for the party! Please don’t be strangers and come back to New Orleans real soon!

I have seen your group several times in the Kansas City area. I was wondering when you are coming back to the Kansas City/ Kansas area? I am a fan from long ago-I love Black Water. Many others have listened to you and gone on to make their own music. You guys are the best. I just saw the video for Black Water and the people in the audience all kept sitting down. It was funny, now no one sits. Love ya Dobbie’s lots.

Happy Mardi Gras, Doobies! Sounds like Mark G. from Fargo made a reference, in his Vegas comment, to a steam calliope and getting John to play it when you guys are in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I am the trumplet player with that steam calliope. We’ve been coming down from Minnesota for the last thirteen years and roll in the parades every year with our 90 year old, coal-fired, steam calliope and our Dixieland band. We will be staging at City Park with the rest of the floats about three hours before Endymion rolls on Saturday afternoon, 2/2/08. We will have a live sound system, ampped and miced, along with a drum kit, if Tommy, Pat, Big Mike, Skylark and the rest of the gang want to jam to some live “funky Dixieland” for a bit!
